River police have recovered the body of KM Tahsif Sauri, 28, a former Air Force flight lieutenant, from the Turag River in Dhaka, a day after he went missing.
Uttarkhan police station Officer-in-Charge Habibur Rahman confirmed the recovery to Dhaka Tribune on Thursday morning. He said no case had been filed over the incident as of Thursday morning.
Inspector Firoz Uddin of the River Police’s Tongi outpost said they recovered the body near Rajabari Ghat on the Turag River around 4:30pm on Wednesday after receiving a call through the national emergency helpline 999.
An inquest report was prepared before the body was sent to the morgue at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
Firoz said Tahsif lived with his family in a flat in Sector 18 of Uttara and went missing on Tuesday. His father’s name is KM Enayet Helal.
He said efforts were underway to determine the circumstances surrounding Tahsif’s death.
