The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested former Awami League lawmaker Mahfuzur Rahman Mita from Gulshan in Dhaka.
Mahfuzur Rahman Mita was a three-term MP from the Chittagong-3 (Sandwip) constituency, winning the seat in 2014, 2018 and 2024.
He was arrested on Monday night.
Niaz Mehedi, additional deputy commissioner of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division, confirmed the matter.
The DB’s Gulshan division said it conducted a raid at a house on Road 43 in Gulshan based on a tip-off and arrested Mahfuzur during the operation.
Police said legal proceedings against him are underway.
