The Ministry of Religious Affairs has requested relevant bank branches across the country to remain open on September 25 and 26, Friday and Saturday, to facilitate the deposit of registration fees for 2027 Hajj pilgrims.
The ministry made the request in a letter sent to the Bangladesh Bank governor on Sunday, seeking necessary instructions in this regard.
According to the letter, the deadline for 2027 Hajj registration is September 24, followed by two days of weekly holidays. The ministry said the relevant bank branches need to remain open on September 25 and 26 so that pilgrims can deposit their registration fees and complete the registration process within the deadline.
It also requested Bangladesh Bank to ensure that all bank branches authorised to receive Hajj registration fees remain open nationwide on those two days.
The letter further said the branches should continue accepting Hajj registration payments beyond regular banking hours as long as customers are present to make the deposits.
The initiative will allow pilgrims who are unable to deposit their registration fees by the September 24 deadline to make the payments during the two-day weekend.
