The registration deadline for Bangladeshis wishing to perform Hajj in 2027 is September 24, with the Religious Affairs Ministry saying the deadline will not be extended.
In line with instructions from the Saudi government, Bangladesh will submit the final number of Hajj pilgrims to the Saudi authorities immediately after registration closes.
The ministry’s related notice was conveyed to the head offices and principal offices of authorised dealer banks handling foreign exchange transactions through a circular issued by Bangladesh Bank’s Foreign Exchange Policy Department-1 on Thursday.
According to a notice issued by the ministry’s Hajj-1 branch on September 9, registration for the 2027 Hajj began on July 27 and will close on September 24. The notice said there would be no scope for extending the deadline.
Once registration is completed, necessary arrangements, including remitting funds for the Saudi phase, medical check-ups, fitness certificates, vaccinations and Hajj training, will be undertaken based on the final number of pilgrims.
A total of 78,500 Bangladeshis will be able to perform Hajj in 2027 under government and private arrangements.
According to the ministry, as of September 9, 1,065 people had registered under the government arrangement and 2,676 under the private arrangement, bringing the total number of registered pilgrims to 3,741.
The number is significantly lower than the allocated quota.
Citing Saudi government directives, the Religious Affairs Ministry urged prospective pilgrims to complete their registration within the stipulated timeframe to secure their participation in the 2027 Hajj.
It also asked prospective pilgrims, Hajj agencies, banks involved in Hajj-related activities and other stakeholders to take note of the deadline.
Bangladesh Bank has likewise instructed authorised dealer banks to inform all relevant parties about the contents of the circular.
