Woman dies after being pushed during family dispute in Basabo

A 48-year-old woman has succumbed to head injuries she sustained allegedly after being pushed during a family dispute involving her stepbrother and his wife in the capital's Basabo area.

The deceased was identified as Afroza Irene, daughter of Anwar Ullah of Ekhlaspur village in Faridganj upazila of Chandpur. She lived with her husband Belal Hossain in a rented house in Ahmedbagh area of Basabo.

Police recovered the body from Mugda Medical College Hospital on Wednesday afternoon and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue on Thursday morning for an autopsy.

According to police and family sources, an altercation broke out between Afroza, her stepbrother Babu, and his wife Fatema at their Basabo residence at around 10pm on Monday over family matters.

At one point, Babu and Fatema forcefully pushed Afroza, causing her to fall onto bricks and sustain severe head injuries.

Family members took her to Mugda Medical College Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday afternoon.
