The country has adequate stocks of urea, TSP, DAP and MOP fertilizers, and there is no “stock crisis,” Prime Minister’s Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman has said.
Presenting information from the Ministry of Agriculture at the weekly briefing at the Information Department conference room at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon, he said the country currently has about 1.2294 million tons of the four types of fertilizer in stock.
He said the current stock is higher than during the same period last year.
The adviser said the government had also ensured sufficient supplies through existing stocks and fertilizers in the import pipeline to meet future demand.
However, he described complaints about fertilizer shortages in some parts of the country as a “distribution crisis” rather than a stock shortage.
“There may be problems with the supply and distribution system in some areas, but there is no shortage of fertilizer at the national level,” he said.
