Bir Sreshtha Matiur Rahman’s 55th martyrdom anniversary observed

Bangladesh Air Force on Thursday observed the 55th martyrdom anniversary of Bir Sreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman with due respect.

The anniversary was marked through various programs, including a munajat at the Martyred Intellectuals’ Graveyard in Mirpur, where Matiur Rahman is buried, according to a press release from the Inter Services Public Relation Directorate (ISPR) on Thursday.

Air Officer Commanding of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bir Uttam AK Khandker, Air Vice Marshal Haider Abdullah, attended the munajat in the morning and prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul of the Bir Sreshtha Matiur.

He also recalled Matiur Rahman’s contributions and heroic sacrifice with deep respect.

Members of Matiur Rahman’s family, senior officers from Air Headquarters and Bangladesh Air Force bases in Dhaka, and airmen were present at the program.

On the occasion, doa mahfils were held at mosques at various Bangladesh Air Force bases and units. Special prayers were offered for the eternal peace of Matiur Rahman’s soul, while his glorious sacrifice during the 1971 Liberation War was remembered with due respect.

Special prayer programs were also held at all schools and colleges operated by the Bangladesh Air Force, where students and teachers highlighted the life and contributions of Bir Sreshtha Matiur Rahman and prayed for the forgiveness of his soul.
