The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has taken special security measures nationwide to maintain law and order and prevent sabotage and untoward incidents ahead of August 15.
The measures include intensified intelligence surveillance, deployment of plainclothes personnel and increased cyber patrolling to prevent possible acts of sabotage by banned organizations, extremist groups and criminals.
RAB’s Legal and Media Wing disclosed the measures in a press release issued on Thursday.
According to the release, intelligence monitoring of the activities and movements of banned organizations, extremist groups and suspected criminals has been intensified to prevent any attempt to carry out sabotage on August 15.
RAB said it will conduct operations under its own command and coordinate, when necessary, with the Special Security Force (SSF), local administration, other law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies.
Local informants and sources have been engaged to strengthen intelligence gathering and obtain advance information. Plainclothes intelligence teams have also been deployed along routes leading to event venues in areas under RAB’s jurisdiction.
The force is also collecting information on suspected individuals and members of banned organizations in its areas of responsibility.
Cyber patrolling has been intensified to prevent rumors and misinformation from spreading on social media. RAB said immediate action would be taken against those attempting to create disorder by posting misleading content, comments or images online.
RAB’s bomb disposal units have been kept on standby to respond immediately if explosives or suspected explosive substances are found.
RAB urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious person, object or activity to the nearest law enforcement agency.
