Biman flight makes emergency landing in Rome

A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Toronto to Dhaka made an emergency landing at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport due to a technical issue and remained grounded there for at least six hours, officials said.

A public relations official of Biman Bangladesh Airlines confirmed the development on Friday evening, saying the aircraft was grounded after undergoing technical inspections following the emergency landing.

“The aircraft underwent a technical check after landing. Following an initial inspection, the authorities declared it grounded,” the official said, requesting anonymity.

Around 250 passengers were on board the flight.

The national flag carrier is working to arrange alternative flights, accommodation and meals for the affected passengers, the official added.
