DNCC sets up 1,905 centres for Vitamin A plus campaign

The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has established 1,905 centres, including 54 permanent and 1,851 temporary facilities, to implement the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign scheduled for June 28.

A total of 3,810 volunteers will be deployed across the centres, while 183 first-line and 103 second-line supervisors will oversee field-level operations, officials said at an orientation workshop organised by the DNCC Health Department at Nagar Bhaban on Thursday.

During the day-long campaign, all children aged 6–11 months will receive one blue Vitamin A capsule, while children aged 1–5years will be administered one red Vitamin A capsule, reports BSS.

To ensure coverage among underserved communities, including slum dwellers and children living around bus terminals and railway stations, DNCC will deploy four ambulances to deliver Vitamin A capsules through mobile outreach services. The mobile campaign will continue for four days following the main programme.

In addition, permanent centres will remain open from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm on the campaign day and for the following four days, allowing working parents greater flexibility to bring their children for supplementation.
