Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Friday expressed deep sorrow and shock at the loss of lives caused by powerful earthquakes in Venezuela.
In a Facebook post, the prime minister said: “We are gravely saddened by the earthquakes that have struck Venezuela, causing tragic loss of so many lives and so much destruction.”
On behalf of the people of Bangladesh, he extended deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones.
“We also pray for the swift recovery of every individual injured, and stand in solidarity with the people of Venezuela during this difficult time,” Tarique Rahman said.
He conveyed Bangladesh’s full support to the affected people and wished the government of Venezuela strength, resilience and healing as it deals with the aftermath of the disaster.
A pair of powerful earthquakes of 7.2 magnitude struck Venezuela on Wednesday evening, killing around 235 people and injuring at least 4,300 others, according to officials.
