A fire that broke out at the Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) crane of the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) of Chittagong Port on Monday afternoon has been brought under control within 30 minutes.
The fire broke out around 2:30pm at RTG-4014, stationed at Berth No. 4 in the southern section of the terminal, said additional secretary and acting secretary of Chittagong Port, Md Nasir Uddin.
Based on information, the port authorities and a firefighting unit of the Chittagong Fire Service and Civil Defense and the Bangladesh Navy launched a coordinated operation and brought the blaze under control within about 30 minutes.
However, the overall situation is now normal, said Nasir Uddin. No casualties were reported, and the cause of the fire could not be known yet.
