Ahead of the June 23 founding anniversary of Awami League, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has ruled out any specific security threat but said it remains on high alert.
DMP Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) S N Nazrul Islam made the remarks while responding to questions from reporters at a press briefing at the DMP Media Centre on Minto Road in the capital on Friday.
“June 23 marks the founding anniversary of a political party. We are maintaining a vigilant position surrounding the occasion,” he said.
Nazrul Islam added that the DMP has taken all necessary security measures to ensure public safety, with security checkpoints continuing to operate at key locations across the city.
“These security arrangements will remain in place,” he said.
