PM discusses progress of BRT project with experts

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday discussed the progress and expected benefits of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project with experts.

The meeting was held at the Cabinet Division conference room at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in secretariat where detailed discussions were held on the BRT project stretching from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Joydebpur in Gazipur.

During the meeting with the prime minister, the experts shared their views on various aspects of the project, particularly focusing on design, station management, passenger services, operational structure and overall effectiveness, according to a press release of the prime minister’s press wing.

They also provided their observations and recommendations for improving project outcomes, it said.

“Detailed discussions were held on the progress, implementation process and expected benefits of the BRT project stretching from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Joydebpur in Gazipur,” the PMO release said. 

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam, State Minister for Road Transport and Railways Habibur Rashid Habib, senior officials of the Road Transport and Highways Division, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) professors Md Shamsul Haque, Mosleh Uddin Hasan, Md Hadiuzzaman and Rakib Ahsan, as well as Chief Engineer of the Roads and Highways Department Moinul Hasan, among others, attended the meeting.
