55,133 Bangladeshi Hajis return home

A total of 55,133 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have returned home from Saudi Arabia as of Saturday following the completion of this year's Hajj held on May 26.

“A total of 131 return flights were operated by three designated carriers: 61 by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 49 by Saudia Airlines, and 21 by Flynas Airlines,” an official said. 

According to the Hajj office, 4,313 Hajjis returned under government management so far, while 50,820 returned under private travel agency arrangements in 131 flights.

Besides, 51 Bangladeshi pilgrims have passed away in Saudi Arabia during Hajj, with 34 males and 17 females. Of them, 36 died in Makkah, 14 in Madinah and one in Jeddah. 

No deaths have been reported in Mina, or Muzdalifah.

According to the Hajj bulletin, a total of 410 hajjis received treatment from various hospitals in Saudi Arabia due to diseases, while 17 hajjis were hospitalized. Saudi Arabian medical centers provided treatment to 63,427, while the IT help desk gave services to 27,810 Hajjis in Makkah and Madinah.

This year's Hajj operations began with the first outbound flight on April 18 and concluded on May 21.

The return Hajj flights started on May 30 and will continue until July 1.
