The Bangladesh Navy on Thursday formally inducted BNFC Boliyan, a modern 70-ton-capacity floating crane built by Dockyard and Engineering Works Limited (DEW), marking another milestone in the country's growing indigenous naval engineering capability.
The crane was officially handed over to the Navy during a ceremony attended by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M. Nazmul Hassan. Senior naval officers, DEW officials, and other distinguished guests were also present.
Constructed under the Bangladesh Navy’s modernization initiative, BNFC Boliyan was developed to enhance the service’s logistics, maintenance, and repair capabilities while supporting future operational requirements. The project commenced with a keel-laying ceremony on June 30, 2024, and was completed using locally developed technology and expertise.
