PM joins discussion marking Zia’s 45th death anniversary

Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Sunday joined a discussion program organized marking the 45th death anniversary of party founder and former president Ziaur Rahman.

The program began through recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a munajat, in the afternoon at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium in Dhaka's Farmgate area.

A one-minute silence was also observed in memory of the late president Ziaur Rahman.

BNP Secretary General and Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir presided over the discussion arranged by the party, where Tarique Rahman will speak as the chief guest.

The discussion is part of BNP’s programs to observe the 45th death anniversary of the party founder.

The party and its associate bodies chalked out an eight-day program to observe the death anniversary nationwide with due respect. The programs began on May 25 and will continue until June 1.

Ziaur Rahman, who founded the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in 1978, was assassinated by a group of disgruntled army officers at Chittagong Circuit House on May 30, 1981.
