Ahead of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha, 23 special teams of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed at key highways, toll plazas, and traffic-prone areas across the country to help ensure smooth traffic movement and maintain law and order.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday, the BGB has been operating in the field since May 21 in line with government directives.
The force is working in coordination with local administrations and other law enforcement agencies across major roads and bridges, with operations set to continue until three days after Eid.
BGB teams have been deployed at several key locations, including the Elevated Expressway, Baipayl, Nabinagar, and Mayor Hanif Flyover areas in the capital.
Personnel are also stationed at the Padma Bridge and Dhaka–Mawa Expressway toll plazas, as well as at Kanchpur, Madanpur, Mograpara, Meghna Bridge, Kanchan Bridge, Muqterpur Bridge, Gazipur Chourasta, and Bhogra Bypass.
Other important deployments include the eastern and western ends of the Jamuna Bridge, Shah Amanat Karnaphuli Bridge in Chittagong, Rupsha Khan Jahan Ali Bridge in Khulna, Bhairab Bridge in Kishoreganj, Lalon Shah Bridge in Kushtia and Pabna, and the Gurdaspur Atrai toll plaza area in Natore.
The BGB said that as homebound travel increases ahead of Eid, its personnel are working to maintain discipline on highways, ease traffic congestion, and ensure a comfortable journey for passengers. Surveillance has also been strengthened at critical installations.
BGB Public Relations Officer Mohammad Shariful Islam said BGB members are working tirelessly to ensure safe and smooth Eid travel for the public, and coordination with other agencies will continue as needed.
