A total of 15 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died in Makkah during this year’s Hajj season, according to the latest hajj bulletin released on Saturday.
Of the deceased, 11 were men and four were women.
Meanwhile, 58,347 Bangladeshi pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia so far to perform Hajj this year.
The bulletin said that, as of 2:59 am on Friday, 4,444 pilgrims travelled under the government management scheme, while 53,903 arrived under private management.
A total of 150 flights have transported pilgrims from Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia so far. Of them, Biman Bangladesh Airlines operated 75 flights carrying 29,704 passengers, Saudi Airlines transported 19,784 pilgrims on 53 flights, and Flynas Airlines carried 8,859 passengers on 22 flights.
Subject to moon sighting, Hajj is expected to be observed on May 26 this year.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has approved 30 lead Hajj agencies to oversee this year’s pilgrimage operations. Under the government management scheme, the quota has been set at 4,565 pilgrims, while 73,935 pilgrims are expected to travel under private management.
