State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam left Dhaka on Tuesday morning on an official visit to the United States of America before she joins the 2nd Ministerial Conference on Peacekeeping in Morocco later this month.
A foreign ministry source said the state minister departed for the United States as part of her official engagements abroad.
Following her programmes in the US, she is scheduled to attend the 2nd Ministerial Conference on Peacekeeping to be held in Morocco from May 19-21.
The source said the conference is expected to focus on strengthening global peacekeeping cooperation, enhancing operational capabilities and addressing emerging challenges in United Nations peace operations.
The state minister is expected to return home on May 22.
