The body of Nahida Sultana Brishty, a Bangladeshi PhD student at the University of South Florida (USF) who was murdered in the United States, arrived in Bangladesh on Saturday morning.
The body arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 9:10am on an Emirates Airlines flight.
The information was confirmed by Group Captain SM Ragib Samad, executive director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, to Dhaka Tribune.
Earlier, Brishty’s body was sent to Dhaka from Orlando International Airport in Florida on Thursday night aboard Emirates flight EK 0220. A representative of the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami was present at the airport during the departure.
On April 16, two Bangladeshi PhD students at USF — Zamil Ahmed Limon and Nahida Sultana Brishty — went missing in the US. The following day, one of their friends informed the university authorities.
Police later confirmed that both had been murdered.
Authorities arrested Hisham Saleh Abugharbieh, Limon’s roommate and a US citizen, in connection with the killings.
The body of Limon, who was also killed in the same incident, arrived in Dhaka on May 4.
