LPG prices to remain unchanged in May

The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been kept unchanged for May after two rounds of price hikes in April. The price of a 12kg cylinder remains at Tk1,940 for this month as well. Notably, in April, the price of a 12kg cylinder was increased by a total of Tk599 in two phases.

On Sunday, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced that the price would remain unchanged. The new rate will come into effect from 6pm on Sunday.

Under its monthly pricing mechanism, BERC had announced revised rates for the current month on April 2. At that time, the price of a 12kg cylinder was set at Tk1,728, which was Tk387 higher than the previous month. Later, on April 19, the price was increased again by Tk212.

Currently, the price of LPG has been set at Tk161.71 per kg, while autogas is priced at Tk89.52 per litre. Prices of cylinders of other weights have also been kept unchanged in proportion.

Earlier, in March, the price of a 12kg LPG cylinder had been kept unchanged at Tk1,341.
