Earthquake shakes Dhaka, parts of Bangladesh

A moderate earthquake struck the India–Myanmar border, with mild tremors felt in Dhaka and other parts of Bangladesh.

The tremor was experienced at 6:29:35am on Tuesday, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The earthquake measured a magnitude 5 on the Richter scale.

The department said the epicentre was located near the Manipur border in India.

Earlier, on April 12, tremors were also felt in the Sylhet region along the Bangladesh–India border. That earthquake originated from the Silchar area of Assam, India.
