A mild heatwave is sweeping over different districts of the country, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
"Mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Jashore, Chuadanga and Kushtia and it may abate," said a Met office bulletin on Thursday morning.
Besides, BMD forecast that rain would occur in different parts of the country over the next 24 hours, commencing at 9am on Thursday.
"Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at a few places over Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Barisal and Chittagong divisions with hail at isolated places," the bulletin said.
Day temperature may fall by 1-2°C and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.
The highest temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 39.2°C in Rajshahi and Thursday's minimum temperature is 20°C in Rajarhat under Rangpur division.
