Thirty-three Bangladeshis have returned home through the Benapole check post after serving three years in jail in India.
They were handed over to Bangladeshi immigration authorities at Benapole on Sunday evening.
Officer-in-Charge of Benapole Immigration Police Syed Mortaza said they had gone to India without valid documents in search of jobs, with the help of local brokers, three years ago.
Kolkata Police arrested them, and a court later sentenced each of them to three years in prison for trespassing into the country.
After completing their jail terms, the Indian authorities handed them over to immigration police at the Benapole check post.
The Benapole police later handed them over to a representative of a human rights organization in Jessore to arrange their return to their respective families.
