President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman have greeted the nation on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, conveying messages of unity, values and national development ahead of the festival.
In a message on Thursday, President Mohammed Shahabuddin said the lessons of Eid-ul-Fitr would inspire the nation in building a new Bangladesh. He said: “The significance of Eid-ul-Fitr is immense in establishing a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous state.”
He added that the country is moving forward towards building a just, self-reliant and prosperous Bangladesh, and noted that Eid promotes equality as people from all backgrounds share the joy of the festival together.
The president also highlighted that Muslims acquire moral values through Ramadan by refraining from injustice, oppression and sinful acts.
In a separate message on Friday, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman extended greetings to the people of Bangladesh and Muslims around the world.
He said: “On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, I extend my heartfelt greetings to the people of the country. I convey my sincere greetings and Eid Mubarak to the Muslim Ummah in Bangladesh and around the world.”
The prime minister said Eid-ul-Fitr arrives with messages of unity, solidarity and compassion following a month of fasting and self-restraint.
He said: “May the joy of Eid reach every home and every family. Let us be inspired by the ideals of Ramadan and share the happiness of the festival with one another.”
