The Bangladesh women’s volleyball team, which made history by winning the bronze medal at the CAVA Women’s Volleyball Championship held in Malé, Maldives last December, was officially honored by the Bangladesh Volleyball Federation on Saturday.
At a reception ceremony held at the Shaheed Noor Hossain National Volleyball Stadium in Paltan, Dhaka, the 14 players who were part of the national squad received cash rewards and honorary crests in recognition of their remarkable achievement.
In addition, six other officials including the team’s coach, manager, and women’s coordinator were also honored from the federation’s fund.
The reception was attended by Md Mahbub-Ul-Alam, secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as the chief guest. The ceremony was presided over by Faruque Hassan, president of the Bangladesh Volleyball Federation & chairman of BoT of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology. Among others present were Md Salim Fakir, additional secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports; Mohammad Zahed Parvez Chowdhury, member secretary of the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Kriradol; Golam Quddus Chowdhury, former president of the federation; Sharmeen Hassan Tithi, chairperson of the Women’s Volleyball Committee; MA Latif Shahriar Zahedi, senior vice president; Mashudul Alam, vice president; Bimal Ghosh Bhulu, general secretary; Abdul Mumin Saddam, joint secretary; Imran Haider Kanchan, treasurer; Sohel Rana Linkon, executive member of the Federation; Md Amirul Hossain, team manager; and Imtiaz Karim Shuvo, team coordinator.
