Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, editor-in-chief of the Daily Manab Zamin, has been elected President of the Newspaper Owners’ Association of Bangladesh (NOAB) for the 2026-27 term.
All committee members were elected unopposed at a meeting of the organisation on Saturday. NOAB Election Board Chairman M Mashrur Riaz announced the new committee.
ASM Shahidullah Khan, chairman of the Editorial Board of the English daily New Age, was elected Vice President, while Altamash Kabir, publisher of Daily Sangbad, assumed the role of Treasurer.
The newly elected committee members are: AK Azad, publisher of Samakal, Matiur Rahman, editor and publisher of Prothom Alo, Mahfuz Anam, editor and publisher of The Daily Star, Tasmima Hossain, editor of Ittefaq, AMM Bahauddin, editor of Inqilab, Dewan Hanif Mahmud, editor of Bonik Barta, Mozammel Haque, editor of Karatoa, M A Malek, editor of Azadi, Dr Ramizuddin Chowdhury, editor of Purbokone, Syed Nasim Manzur, publisher of The Financial Express.
The committee is expected to oversee NOAB’s activities and initiatives throughout the 2026-27 term, guiding the association’s role in promoting the interests of Bangladesh’s newspaper industry.
