The central committee of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has suspended two leaders of its Dhaka University unit on charges of violating "organizational discipline."
Two separate notices issued on Wednesday evening announced that Shaikh Tanvir Baree Hamim, convener of the Kabi Jasimuddin Hall unit, and Md Mahiduzzaman Joty, member secretary of the Sir AF Rahman Hall unit, have been relieved of their organizational positions for breaching organizational discipline.
The notices were signed by Chhatra Dal central committee President Rakibul Islam Rakib and general secretary Nasiruddin Nasir.
According to the notices, the decision will remain in effect until further notice.
On Friday, Hamim had been issued a show-cause notice by the central Chhatra Dal on similar grounds. Hamim had also contested the DUCSU elections as a general secretary candidate on a Chhatra Dal-backed panel.
In response, Hamim wrote on social media: “From class six (2012) through college (2017), I held no position—yet I did politics for Chhatra Dal. I have now learned that I have been suspended from my post as convener of Kabi Jasimuddin Hall Chhatra Dal by central President, Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasiruddin Nasir. I am a worker of this party, and that identity alone is something I carry with immense pride. Alhamdulillah.”
