ACC chairman, two commissioners resign

The Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Mohammad Abdul Momen, and two commissioners have resigned from their posts. On Tuesday at noon, they submitted their resignation letters to the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat.

The two commissioners who stepped down are Miah Mohammad Ali Akbar Azizi and Brigadier General (Retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid.

According to sources, at 2:36 pm the senior ACC officials entered Building No. 1 of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat. Within just 10 minutes, they completed the formalities related to their resignations and left the premises.

Resignation under pressure?

Speaking to journalists after submitting his resignation letter, Commissioner Miah Muhammad Ali Akbar Azizi was asked whether they had resigned under any political or administrative pressure. In response, he stated that the resignations were not the result of any pressure but were part of a regular procedural process.

It may be noted that on December 10, 2024, Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen was appointed Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission. On the same day, the two commissioners were also appointed alongside him.
