President Mohammad Shahabuddin will cast his vote through a postal ballot in the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election and referendum.
Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Machud confirmed the matter on Tuesday, saying the president had expressed his intention to vote through the postal ballot system, which is being introduced for the first time.
“The president has expressed his desire to vote through postal ballot. Accordingly, he will cast his vote in this manner,” the election commissioner said.
For the first time, voters living abroad, officials and employees engaged in election duties, and individuals in legal custody will be able to exercise their voting rights ahead of the polls through postal ballots. A total of 1.53 million voters have registered under this system.
According to the revised election schedule, election campaigning began on January 22 and will continue until 7:30am on February 10. Voting will take place on Thursday, February 12, from 7:30am to 4:30pm.
