The first namaz-ejanaza of Azizur Rahman Musabbir, former member secretary of the Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP Swechchhasebak Dal, who was shot dead by assailants in Karwan Bazar, Dhaka, has been held.
A large number of party leaders and activists attended the funeral prayers at 2:30pm in front of the BNP central office in Naya Paltan on Thursday.
Earlier, at 1:30pm, after a postmortem at Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue, the police handed over the body to his family. From there, the body was taken to the BNP central office in Naya Paltan.
After the namaz-e-janaza, Musabbir’s body was taken to his residence at Garden View in Karwan Bazar. Following this, after the Asr prayer, a second funeral will be held before he is buried at Azimpur graveyard.
Earlier, on Wednesday, at around 8pm, assailants shot Azizur Rahman Musabbir in Karwan Bazar. He was taken to a private hospital in Panthapath in critical condition, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Also injured in the shooting was Abu Sufian Bepari Masud, general secretary of the Tejgaon Thana Rickshaw-Van Workers Union, who was with Musabbir at the time. He is receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital.
