The temperature in Dinajpur on Saturday, has dropped to 10.8°C.
On Friday, the temperature was 10.5°C. For the past few days, the temperature has been fluctuating between 10 and 12°C.
Cold northerly winds have created a bitterly cold situation. People are trying to keep warm by burning straw and firewood.
The intensity of the cold has not decreased at all. The sun was not seen on Saturday, as the Dinajpur district remains covered by a thick blanket of fog. When the sun does appear during the day, it brings some temporary relief. However, if the sun does not rise, low-income people have to pass their days in great hardship.
Dinajpur Weather Office In-charge Md Tofazzal Hossain said that the severity of the cold may increase further after Wednesday.
From evening onwards, cold winds and dense fog make the cold even more severe. Roads are becoming deserted, and people are not going outside unless absolutely necessary.
Due to the cold, day laborers and low-income people are facing increased suffering. They are struggling because of a lack of warm clothing, normal activities are being disrupted, and the poor and working-class people are passing their days in hardship.
