The body of BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia was taken to Gulshan Avenue residence of her elder son and party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman from Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday morning.
A freezer-van carrying Khaleda Zia’s body wrapped in red and green flag left the hospital around 8:55am and arrived at Tarique’s residence around 9:16am.
Earlier, the body was kept at the hospital mortuary overnight before being taken to Gulshan.
A huge number of law enforcers have been deployed in and around the Gulshan residence of Tarique Rahman to maintain law and order.
From the Gulshan residence, Khaleda’s body will be taken to the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad, where her namaz-e-janaza will be held at 2pm.
Following the janaza, she will be laid to rest beside the grave of her husband, late President Ziaur Rahman, at Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka.
Khaleda Zia passed away around 6am on Tuesday at Evercare Hospital after receiving treatment for more than a month.
