Prof Yunus holds meeting with Khaleda Zia

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus met BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia on the sidelines of the Armed Forces Day reception held at Senakunja, Dhaka Cantonment, on Friday.

The one-on-one meeting took place during the program, where the chief adviser inquired about Khaleda Zia’s health and wished her well, according to Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, deputy press Secretary to the chief adviser.

Khaleda Zia expressed her thanks and reciprocated the goodwill by asking about the health of Professor Yunus’s wife, Afrozi Yunus, extending her good wishes.

Syeda Shamila Rahman Sithi, Khaleda Zia’s youngest daughter-in-law, was present during the meeting.

Khaleda Zia arrived at Senakunja around 4pm and was welcomed by Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman and other senior Armed Forces officials.

She was accompanied by Syeda Shamila Rahman Sithi, wife of her late younger son, Arafat Rahman Koko.

The BNP chairperson left the venue at around 5:30pm.

The Armed Forces Division, under the Office of the Chief Adviser, had formally invited Khaleda Zia along with other senior BNP leaders, including Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to the Armed Forces Day celebrations.

Professor Muhammad Yunus attended the reception as the chief guest.

Armed Forces Day is observed annually to commemorate the formation of Bangladesh’s Army, Navy, and Air Force during the 1971 Liberation War.

Khaleda Zia’s attendance this year marks her second appearance at the Senakunja Armed Forces Day reception, having returned to the event last year after a 12-year absence.
