NCP's Akhtar calls death sentence for Hasina appropriate

Akhtar Hossain, member secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has described the death sentence for former prime minister Sheikh Hasina in the crimes against humanity case as “appropriate justice.”

He also called on the Indian government to extradite Hasina to Bangladesh.

In a video message sent to the media on Monday, Akhtar Hossain said: “We appeal to the Indian government not to provide refuge to the murderer Sheikh Hasina, who carried out genocide and committed crimes against humanity against the people of Bangladesh. She must be handed over to Bangladesh’s judicial system.”

He added that only by executing the death sentence could justice be served for Hasina’s crimes, including mass killings and crimes against humanity.

Hossain further stated that Hasina did not merely deliver provocative speeches. “The trial has proven that she ordered the killing of people, directed the use of lethal weapons, mobilized forces to kill civilians, and burned people alive,” he said.
