A Dhaka court has granted bail to content creator Ashraful Alom, popularly known as Hero Alom, on a bond of Tk200 in a case filed by his former wife, Ria Moni, accusing him of attempted murder, assault, and intimidation at Hatirjheel Police Station in the capital.
The order was issued on Saturday by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Judge Rakibul Hasan.
Earlier in the afternoon, Hatirjheel police arrested Hero Alom in connection with the case.
His lawyer, Shanta Saxina, confirmed the development.
According to the case statement, tension had recently arisen between Ria Moni and Hero Alom, after which he divorced her and forced her out of the house.
Later, on June 21, Hero Alom and Ria Moni met at an apartment in the Hatirjheel area to resolve the matter. During that Hero Alom and 10–12 unidentified men allegedly hurled abusive language at Ria Moni and her family.
The complaint further states that Hero Alom and the group unlawfully entered the plaintiff’s current residence and attacked her with wooden sticks, striking her head and different parts of her body with the intention of killing her, leaving injuries.
During the incident, they also allegedly stole a gold chain weighing two bhori from her neck.
Ria Moni filed the case with Hatirjheel Police Station on June 23.
