The US Department of State has issued a reminder to all students and exchange participants applying for F, M, or J visas to ensure full and accurate disclosure of their social media history.
Failure to do so, the department warns, may result in visa denial and future ineligibility.
In an official statement, the department said: "Attention students and exchange participants requiring an F, M, or J visa: Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used from the last 5 years on the DS-160 visa application form. Applicants certify that the information in their visa application is true and correct before they sign and submit. Omitting social media information could lead to visa denial and ineligibility for future visas."
