Air Vice Marshal Md Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan has been abruptly withdrawn from his position as chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), even as he was engaged in official duties in Cox’s Bazar.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued the order on Thursday through a circular signed by Joint Secretary Abul Hayat Md Rafique. No official reason was given for the sudden move in the notice.
Bhuiyan was in Cox’s Bazar attending a day-long workshop on the Right to Information when the order came through.
Following the event, he had been inspecting various ongoing development projects at the Cox’s Bazar airport under CAAB’s supervision.
However, Monjur Kabir did not respond to requests for comment on the issue.
However, Muhammad Kawsar Mahmud, Assistant Director (Public Relations) at CAAB, who was also present in Cox’s Bazar, told Dhaka Tribune, “We have seen the notice from the Ministry of Public Administration.”
