Advance tickets for intercity trains are being issued under special arrangements to facilitate the return of homebound travellers after Eid-ul-Azha, with tickets for June 15 available on Thursday, the final day of advance sales.
Ticket sales for trains operating in the western region of Bangladesh Railway began at 8am, while those for eastern region trains are scheduled to begin at 2pm, reports Bangla Tribune.
As in previous years, all tickets are being made available online to ensure greater convenience for passengers.
As part of the Eid travel schedule, tickets for intercity trains on Monday went on sale on Friday, while tickets for Tuesday were sold on Saturday.
Tickets for June 12, 13, and 14 were sold on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday respectively.
On Thursday, tickets for June 15 are being sold.
According to railway sources, tickets for seven days after Eid are being sold in advance under a special system.
These non-refundable tickets allow each passenger to purchase up to four at a time, according to the source.
However, if more than one ticket is purchased, the names of accompanying passengers must be provided at the time of purchase.
