BUDGET FY26

Salehuddin: Draft of e-money regulations completed

Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed on Monday said that the e-money regulations have been drafted to create a secure and competitive environment for digital transactions.

Salehuddin presented the proposed budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, amounting to Tk7,89,999 crore, in a televised speech on Monday.

The adviser made the comment while presenting the proposed national budget for FY26 through a speech aired on Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar.

"Using the iBAS++ system, about 14 lakh government employees now receive their salaries directly in their bank accounts through Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT). EFT is also being used to pay allowances for social security programs. The scope of payments through EFT is being gradually expanded," he said.

Currently, Salehuddin said, the budget formulation of all ministries and departments is being done through iBAS++ to align with the policies and performance of the government.

"The use of iBAS++ in field offices is rapidly expanding. Using the automated challan (A-challan) system, online revenue or fee payments are now available at all branches of 61 commercial banks and can be made from anywhere using internet banking, debit or credit cards, and mobile financial services," he added.

To expand the benefits of this system, he said work is underway to complete the integration of different systems in phases.
