In the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, a provision of Tk100 crore has been proposed to celebrate the "Festival of Youth."
Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed proposed this allocation to further engage the country’s youth in national development.
Salehuddin presented the proposed budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, amounting to Tk7,89,999 crore, in a televised speech on Monday.
In his speech, the finance adviser said: “A project has also been adopted to create self-employment opportunities for the injured and families of martyrs of the July mass uprising. To involve the youth more deeply in the country’s development, I am proposing an allocation of Tk100 crore for the celebration of the ‘Festival of Youth’ in the upcoming fiscal year.”
He added: “We are working to harness the immense strength and potential of the youth to develop skilled manpower and generate self-employment opportunities. The ‘Festival of Youth 2025’ was celebrated with great enthusiasm and excitement under the theme ‘Let’s change the country, let’s change the world."
The finance adviser further said that, to promote self-employment, the loan ceiling for successful young entrepreneurs nationwide has been increased to Tk500,000.
Additionally, a special fund of Tk100 crore has been proposed to support youth entrepreneurship.
This is the first time such a fund has been proposed specifically for young entrepreneurs.
