Bangladesh Tea Board recognized outstanding contributors to the country’s tea industry by presenting ten National Tea Awards on Wednesday.
The awards were presented by Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin during a ceremony at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital, marking the occasion of National Tea Day 2025.
Madhupur Tea Garden was honored for producing the highest quality tea, while The Consolidated Tea and Lands Company was named the Best Tea Exporter.
Denston Tea Garden received recognition for achieving the highest yield per acre.
Kazi & Kazi Tea Estate Ltd stood out by winning in two categories: "Best Tea Company for Marketing Diversified Tea Products" and "Best Tea Company for Exceptional Quality Packaging".
Mirzapur Tea Garden was awarded Best Tea Garden for Worker Welfare.
ABM Akhtaruzzaman earned the title of Best Small-Scale Tea Producer and Jesmin Aktar was recognized as the Best Tea Leaf Plucker of the Year.
Two bought-leaf tea factories from Panchagarh also received awards on this special occasion.
Morgen Tea Industries was acknowledged for being the Highest Tea-Producing Bought-Leaf Factory, while Supreme Tea Ltd received the award for producing the Highest Quality Tea among bought-leaf Factories.
This year’s celebration was observed under the theme: "The promise of Tea Day, The progress of the Tea Industry."
Mahbubur Rahman, secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Major General Sheikh Mohammad Sarwar Hossain, Chairman of the Bangladesh Tea Board Shah Moinuddin Hasan, Chairman of the Tea Traders Association of Bangladesh (TTAB) and Kamran Tanvirur Rahman, chairman of the Bangladesh Tea Association, also spoke at the event.
