Less than 24 hours after reaching an all-time high, the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (Bajus) has decided to reduce the price of 22-carat gold in the country by Tk1,038 per bhori (11.664 grams).
In a press release sent on Sunday evening, Bajus said that due to a decrease in the price of refined gold in the international market, and after considering the overall situation of the local market, a new price has been set.
According to the new pricing, starting Monday, which also marks Pohela Boishakh—the Bangla New Year—the price of 22-carat gold per bhori will be Tk1,62,176.
The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk1,54,805, 18-carat gold at Tk1,32,690, and traditional gold at Tk1,09,537 per bhori, as per the release.
Earlier on Saturday, Bajus had increased the price of 22-carat gold by Tk4,187 to Tk1,63,214 per bhori, the highest ever recorded in the country’s history.
With this, the price of gold has been adjusted 21 times in 2025 so far—15 increases and six decreases. In comparison, gold prices were updated 62 times in 2024, with 35 increases and 27 decreases.
Despite the change in gold prices, silver prices remain the same. Currently, the price of 22-carat silver per bhori is Tk2,578, 21-carat is Tk2,449, 18-carat is Tk2,111, and traditional method silver is Tk1,586.
