The Bangladesh Investment Summit begins on Monday as the nation gears up for a landmark event that promises to bolster economic growth and foster global partnerships.
Stakeholders from across the globe are converging to explore new opportunities, share innovative ideas, and celebrate significant achievements in the investment landscape.
An agreement will be signed with NASA at the Investment Summit 2025, and five domestic and foreign investors will be honored at the event, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun announced during a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Sunday.
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus will serve as the chief guest at a session on Wednesday. More than 550 top-level officials from over 50 countries, including Bangladesh, will participate.
The conference program will be broadcast on Facebook and YouTube, and a media corner will be available for interviews with foreign investors. Both foreign and local investors will speak at the main event, and Syed Nasim Manzur, Managing Director of Apex Footwear, is scheduled to deliver a speech.
Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun said: "We could not accommodate everyone who registered to attend the investment conference, and we apologize for that. Priority was given to foreigners who have traveled from afar and Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs), which unfortunately meant that many Bangladeshis could not be accommodated."
He continued: "We have a significant investment from local investors, and we will listen to their expectations from the government. Five awards will be presented to individuals and institutions in the presence of the chief guest: one for a local investor, one for a foreign investor, one for an organization in the field of environmental, social, and governance (ESG), one for innovation, and an honorary citizenship will be offered to a foreign investor who has been investing in Bangladesh for many years."
He further said: "Many MoUs will be signed at the conference, and investment promises will be made. We are considering signing a bilateral agreement with the ILO on labor and an agreement with NASA, which may be related to civilian space exploration. Details will be provided once the agreement is finalized."
The press briefing was attended by the Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, and Deputy Press Secretary Apurba Jahangir.
