The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is set to launch a special operation ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
The head of the agency, Additional Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallik said: "Intelligence reports on criminals in various areas have already been received. We will take all-out action against them."
He made this comment at a press conference held at the DMP Media Center on Saturday at 11:30am.
The conference was titled "Planned Operations by DB to Maintain Law and Order During the Holy Month of Ramadan."
During the press briefing, he emphasized that DB police have been working tirelessly throughout Ramadan to ensure security.
Efforts are underway to identify criminals before crimes are committed, even when they operate in disguise.
Providing an analysis of recent crimes, Rezaul Karim said: "Members of various juvenile gangs are getting involved in criminal activities. Additionally, supporters of the former ruling party are instigating criminals. Many have already been brought under the law."
Issuing a stern warning, the police official said: "Anyone involved in crimes will face legal action. With Ramadan in mind, intelligence surveillance has been intensified in key locations, including banks, shopping malls, launch terminals, bus stops, and airports, where public activity is high."
