Adviser: There will be no progress without eradicating corruption

Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said corruption remains the biggest challenge for the country and that national progress will not be possible unless it is eradicated from the root.

He made the remarks on Tuesday while responding to journalists' questions after attending the Deputy Commissioners’ Conference.

The adviser stressed the need to reduce corruption at all levels and sought cooperation from all deputy commissioners in this regard.

Highlighting improvements in the country’s law and order, he said: “We expect even further progress. Discussions were held on ways to enhance law enforcement and agricultural development.”

He also mentioned that deputy commissioners have proposed increasing the presence of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and River Police in border areas.

Additionally, recommendations were made to expand manpower for the Gazipur Metropolitan Police and Industrial Police.
