Those killed in the July movement will be recognized as 'July Martyrs' while the injured victims will be known as 'July Warriors'.
“Those martyred in the July uprising will receive certificates and identity cards, the injured ones will receive identity cards as 'July Warriors' and they will also be entitled to other government benefits,” Liberation War Affairs Adviser Faruk E Azam told media on Monday.
He was talking to reporters on the second day of the Deputy Commissioner's Conference at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.
"The process of forming the July Directorate is at its final stage. It will be established within this week, and a policy has already been formulated for its operation," said the adviser.
"Families of the martyrs will receive Tk30 lakh through savings certificates. Tk10 lakh will be provided in the current fiscal year and the rest in the next fiscal year," Faruk E Azam said.
Severely injured victims will receive lifelong medical care and a monthly allowance of Tk20,000 along with a one-time payment of Tk5 lakh, said the adviser.
“Those who lost a limb will receive a monthly allowance of Tk15,000 and a one-time payment of Tk3 lakh. Injured victims who have recovered after receiving treatment will be prioritized for employment and rehabilitation programs but will not receive any allowance,” he added.
Besides, the injured will receive training at various levels and be given priority for employment in government, semi-government and other sectors based on merit, said the adviser.
Regarding confusion over the list of injured and deceased at the field level, the adviser said that the final list of martyrs was received on Monday and was gazetted the next day.
The list of injured is being prepared swiftly by the medical cell and will be published in the gazette immediately upon receipt by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, said Faruk.
