Gold prices rise by nearly Tk2000 per bhori

The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (Bajus) has announced an increase in gold prices in the domestic market.

The price has been raised by a maximum of Tk1,983 per bhori, setting the new price. 

This information was shared on Wednesday, through a press release signed by the Chairman of Bajus's Price Determination and Price Monitoring Permanent Committee, Masudur Rahman.

This marks the second time in the new year that gold prices have been raised.

The release mentioned that the price of refined gold (pure gold) has increased in the local market.

As a result, after considering the overall situation, the new prices for gold have been set.

The new prices will be effective starting Thursday.

As a result of the price hike, the cost of one bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold will be Tk141,426, up from Tk139,443 on Wednesday. 

Additionally, one bhori of 21-carat gold will be sold for Tk134,999, 18-carat gold will be priced at Tk115,719, and traditional gold will cost Tk95,061 per bhori.

Previously, on January 15, Bajus had adjusted gold prices in the market.

On that day, the price increased by a maximum of Tk1,155 per bhori.

At that time, the price of 22-carat gold was Tk139,443 per bhori, while 21-carat gold was priced at Tk133,098, 18-carat gold was Tk114,086, and traditional gold was set at Tk93,674.

In 2024, gold prices in the country were adjusted 62 times, with 35 increases and 27 decreases.

Meanwhile, although gold prices have increased, silver prices remain unchanged.

According to category, the price of 22-carat silver is Tk2,578 per bhori, 21-carat silver is Tk2,449, 18-carat silver is Tk2,111, and traditional silver is Tk1,586 per bhori.
