PSC cancels appointment of six members

The appointments of six newly recruited members of the Public Service Commission (PSC) have been canceled.

This information was announced on Monday through a circular issued by the Ministry of Public Administration.

The individuals whose appointments were canceled are Professor Shahnaz Sarker, Md Munir Hossain, Brig Gen (retd) AF Jaglul Ahmed, Md Mizanur Rahman, Sabbir Ahmed Chowdhury, and Professor Syeda Shahina Subhan.

These six individuals were appointed to the PSC on January 2.

However, their appointments sparked criticism due to allegations of close ties with the Awami League government.

The swearing-in ceremony for these new members was scheduled for Thursday, but it was postponed on Wednesday following an order from the Supreme Court.

On Monday, the cancellation of their appointments was announced.

The PSC had sent a letter to the Supreme Court's Registrar General's Office on Wednesday requesting the suspension of the swearing-in.

Subsequently, in response to the PSC's appeal, the Supreme Court suspended the swearing-in of the new members.
